Liam Monaghan

Program Coordinator, Centre for Writing and Scholarly Communication


Originally from Lethbridge, Alberta, Liam is a writer and educator. He holds a B.A. Hons. from the University of Lethbridge, an M.A. from Dalhousie University, and a B.Ed. from UBC. He has published book reviews and literary non-fiction articles and his plays have been professionally produced in various cities across Canada. Prior to joining UBC Library, Liam worked as a college instructor of Rhetoric and English for Academic Purposes.

Current Role and Responsibilities

As Program Coordinator, Liam is responsible for conducting research in writing studies pedagogy, designing and delivering undergraduate workshops and events, and assisting with the development of writing resources and graduate programming. Alongside the Program Manager, he also helps hire, train, and supervise the CWSC’s twenty student staff. Liam is excited to facilitate opportunities for members of the UBC community to engage with writing as a creative means of sharing and building knowledge.
