Work Learn Orientation Session

The Work Learn program fosters student learning and career development through meaningful on-campus work experiences. Through their Work Learn jobs, students will not just be earning money, but will develop personal and professional skills, develop self-awareness through reflection, have the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a practical setting, gain mentorship, expand their network, and contribute to the UBC community.

We will be offering Work Learn orientation sessions to equip students with strategies that’ll help them make the most of their Work Learn opportunity. This optional session is meant to supplement the orientation that students will receive in their individual workplaces. The following topics will be covered:

Professional etiquette and workplace expectations
-Developing a career plan and setting personal learning goals
-Building your competencies and skills profile
-Connecting this experience to future opportunities
-Establishing a network of professional contacts

This is open to all current winter Work Learn students and is an opportunity for them to network with their peers from a variety of units from across campus and gain insights into the types of Work Learn jobs that exist in various departments, labs, and offices.
