Do you want to learn or practice writing about complex ideas in a clear way? Do you want to connect with others who care about making research accessible? Join us in this fun, collaborative session designed to make research related to the Downtown Eastside easier to understand!
During the event, you will learn clear writing skills that can amplify research impact. We will then use those skills and work together to create accessible descriptions for articles in the Downtown Eastside Research Access Portal.
A “describe-a-thon” is, yes, a term we just invented. It is a collaborative sprint, like a hack-a-thon or a Wikipedia edit-a-thon, but with a focus on clear descriptions. You don’t have to be an experienced writer or cataloguer to make a difference. Everyone’s contributions are valuable!
You’ll also have the chance to win one of several prizes from local organizations. Register here by Friday, April 1 to ensure a spot!
This event takes place virtually on Friday, April 8 from 2:30 to 4:30 PM.
The Downtown Eastside Research Access Portal is a project of the Making Research Accessible initiative (MRAi), a UBC partnership between the UBC Learning Exchange and UBC Library’s Irving K. Barber Learning Centre in consultation with Downtown Eastside community organizations and residents, with input from the Vancouver Public Library and the Simon Fraser University Library.
