We work closely with Amnesty International Canada to promote universal Human Rights around the world. Amnesty International UBC’s Annual Conference is where delegates (students and the public alike) can listen to speeches from prominent speakers who are experts in political science, International Relations, or any applicable field to further expand their knowledge . Usually, the head of Amnesty International in West Canada will be in attendance and would usually say a few words on behalf of Amnesty Canada.

Every year, the conference is tied to a theme. This year, the theme will focus on Article 19 of the UN Declaration of Human Rights, which refers to the universal right to expression and opinion. The conference is titled “The Struggle for Freedom of Expression.”
