Panel Discussion: Canada’s Commitment to International Development

This event will bring together a panel including one or two Members of Parliament, a professor, and a representative from a NGO in a discussion surrounding Canada’s commitment to international development, particularly with regards to the upcoming 2015 Federal Election. All UBC students are invited to attend and bring their own questions in this opportunity to learn from and engage with the diverse perspectives of our panelists. The event will be hosted and facilitated by the Advocacy team of Engineers Without Borders UBC Chapter.

The format of the discussion will be as follows:

– Introduction of the Panelists (5 minutes)
– Directed Questions (20 minutes): the facilitator will ask questions tailored to each panelists’ specialities (these will be emailed to the panelist one week in advance)
– Open Questions (20 minutes): based on interest/discussion, the facilitator will pose questions to all panelists, and those who wish may answer
– Audience Questions (30 – 45 minutes): Audience members will ask questions to panelists”
