STAND UBC Annual Panel Discussion

STAND UBC, a chapter of a national student organization that aims to promote awareness of ongoing genocides and crimes against humanity in order to mobilize individual and government action, is holding our fifth annual panel discussion! This year, our topic is inspired by the creation of the Canadian International Institute for Extractive Industries and Development (CIIEID), funded by a $25-million grant from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). This, combined with STAND’s interest in Canadian mining in the DRC, has prompted us to shape this year’s discussion around the topic of ethical mining and the characteristics, challenges and successes of its implementation. Panelists will each be presented with directed questions, followed by a period of open questions from the audience. A standing networking dinner will follow.
