This nine-panel Exhibition, prepared by volunteers and funded by private donations, presents a powerful sample of almost 250 years of contributions by the Canadian Jewish community to Canadian society – from Human Rights and Architecture to Sports and the Arts. Visit the Exhibition in the Irving K. Barber Learning Center Lobby, or view it online.
Indigenous community radio is a powerful tool. In this exhibition, UBC museum anthropology students worked with Nuxalk Radio in their mission to “Broadcasting the Laws of the Lands and Waters.”
Nuxalk Radio expresses the many voices of the Nuxalk Nation. Through the airwaves and online, the Radio connects the Nuxalk people to each other and to other Indigenous communities. It inspires Nuxalk language learning and promotes the return to ancestral governance. It fosters community well-being now and in the future for those not yet born and asserts Indigenous rights.
Rare Books and Special Collections at UBC Library is delighted to announce a new exhibition, located in the IKBLC Foyer: Once Upon a Pop-up!
The exhibition, curated by UBC Master of Library and Information Studies candidates Lucas Hill, Brooklyn Kemp, Sarah Khan, and Meaghan Smith, under the supervision of Professor Kathie Shoemaker, is a selection of pop-up books from RBSC’s children’s literature collection, ranging from the horror-filled to the historical, from the architectural to Alice in Wonderland.
Until August 15, visit the foyer of the IKBLC to see the Culture at the Centre exhibit! This exhibit highlights the importance of several Indigenous education and community centres, showing the diverse roles they play through the revitalization of communities and repatriation of land and cultural material.
Culture at the Centre is part of a larger exhibition being held at the Museum of Anthropology, which is on display until September 30.

In celebration of this 10-year milestone, UBC Library is installing two temporary exhibitions on Levels 1 and 2 of IKBLC.
The Irving K. Barber Learning Centre 10th Anniversary exhibitions are on display from August 27 through October 30, 2018.
